U C MAS STATE LEVEL COMPETITION

A State level U C MAS Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition and prize distribution ceremony was held at Manav Mangal Smart School, SAS Nagar on Saturday 24^th April and Sunday 25^th April.

Nearly 2000 students from 55 centres of Punjab and Chandigarh participated in the Competition. The participants from the age group 4 to 12 years solved around 100 to 175 sums in just eight minutes with abacus or mentally. The paper was conducted in eight batches. Each batch comprised of 250 students. It was quite a watch seeing kids doing calculations involving additions, subtraction, multiplication and division with ease.

From the last 1 year U C MAS Abacus course is going on in MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar, Jalandhar by Mrs. Ritu Chhabra, School State Co-ordinator of Punjab. A number of students are doing the course, out of them 38 students participated in the STATE LEVEL COMPETITION and this is really remarkable that Champion and Champion of Champions of KG Group is KASHISH MAHAJAN of 3^rd D from MGN Public School Adarsh Nagar. She got a cash-prize of Rs.1000/- as Champion and Rs. 5000/- as Champion of Champions from the M D of U C MAS Mr. Satveer Dhaka. The other students also done a good job, and stand as Runner-ups in their categories-

The prize distribution ceremony was held in the school auditorium. Nearly 400 prizes were distributed. Champions and Runner-Ups of kg group, junior group and senior group categories were declared.

U C MAS does not confine to Arithmetic alone but aims towards "Whole Brain Development", especially the right brain.

^{Independence day was also celebrated on 13th August. Patriotic song was sung by the students in the morning assembly. Children were apprised of the relevance of this momentous day. All the students of Classes I to IV sported Indain flag on their left chest.}

^{National handwriting competition organized by students Development Society (Maharastra) was held in the school on 4^th August 2009. As many as 143 students of classes I to IV participated in it.}

^{Teej was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm on 3^rd August 2009 in MGN Public School Adarsh Nagar, Jalandhar. The students of the Primary Wing were clad in stylish and traditional Punjabi dresses. Each class presented a bhangra dance on various Punjabi songs and felt connected to their culture. They spent an hour of fun and enjoyment. Beautifully decorated swings were another attraction for the students on which they thoroughly enjoyed.}

^{National colour competition organized by students Development Society (Maharashtra) was held in the Primary Wing for Class I to IV on August 3, 2009. It is indeed a pleasure for us that 306 students participated in the competition. The results will be declared in the month of September 2009.}

DISTRICT CHILD WELFARE COUNCIL RED CROSS JALANDHAR ORGANISED NATIONAL PAINTING COMPETION
