Tips of improve memory

On 24th July, 2010, A workshop on ‘Tips of improve memory’ was organised for teachers of primary & pre-primary wing. Teachers were told various way like chunking mnemonics, serial position effect SQ₃R method of study was explained. Right diet, posture, good sleep also enhance memory. Importance of puzzles and brain teasers was also emphasized.

NATIONAL LEVEL UCMAS ABACUS & MENTAL ARITHMETIC COMPETITION

On 22nd January, 2010, National level UCMAS ABACUS and Mental Arithmetic Competition was held at Chennai Kashish Mahajan and Parneet Kaur of Standard III of MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar, Jalandhar participated in it and added another feather to their cap by securing 13^th rank (out of 729 participants) and 22^nd rank (out of 548 participants) respectively. Both were awarded consolation prizes. Mrs D.K. Sagoo incharge Primary Wing congratulated them on their success.

On 13th May 2010, 25 Students appeared for Dharmik Prikhiya conducted by Sikh Missionary College Ludhiana. 3 students of Stand IV namely Parneet Kaur,  Harmanpreet Kaur and Sukham were placed in the merit list. Eight students got A grade, 7 achieved B grade and 4 got C grade.

dental care for students of Class IV

On 1^st May 2010, Talk on dental care for students of Class IV was organised in the Jr. Wing of M.G.N. Public School. In her talk Dr. Davinder Kaur shared her views pertaining to dental care and hygiene with children. She talked about the importance of teeth. Types of brush, amount of paste to be used and proper brushing strokes were discussed and shown to the students with the help of slides. In the end students were advised not to be afraid of the dentist and visit the dentist atleast once a year for healthy & white teeth.

^{U C MAS STATE LEVEL COMPETITION}

^{A State level U C MAS Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition and prize distribution ceremony was held at Manav Mangal Smart School, SAS Nagar on Saturday 24th  April and Sunday 25th  April.}

 

^{Nearly 2000 students from 55 centres of Punjab and Chandigarh participated in the Competition. The participants from the age group 4 to 12 years solved around 100 to 175 sums in just eight minutes with abacus or mentally. The paper was conducted in eight batches. Each batch comprised of 250 students. It was quite a watch seeing kids doing calculations involving additions, subtraction, multiplication and division with ease.}

 

^{From the last 1 year U C MAS Abacus course is going on in MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar, Jalandhar by Mrs. Ritu Chhabra, School State Co-ordinator of Punjab. A number of students are doing the course, out of them 38 students participated in the STATE LEVEL COMPETITION and this is really remarkable that Champion and Champion of Champions of KG Group is KASHISH MAHAJAN of 3rd D from MGN Public School Adarsh Nagar. She got a cash-prize of Rs.1000/- as Champion and Rs. 5000/- as Champion of Champions from the M D of U C MAS Mr. Satveer Dhaka. The other students also done a good job, and stand as Runner-ups in their categories—}

  

^{The prize distribution ceremony was held in the school auditorium. Nearly 400 prizes were distributed. Champions and Runner-Ups of kg group, junior group and senior group categories were declared.}

 

^{U C MAS does not confine to Arithmetic alone but aims towards "Whole Brain Development", especially the right brain.}

orientation Programme

An orientation Programme was held on 10^th April 2010 for the parents of class – I students. Mrs. Manmeet Sawhney, school counsellor shared her views pertaining to child psychology. Parents were shown slides on varied aspects of Parent. Child relationships. Parents were guided that since this is the beginning of the session, children might trouble them, but they should be sent to the school regularly inspite to make time for their children and work hard with them. Slides were also shown to make parents aware of the working of Jr. Wing.
